Mucous is a jelly like substance. It protects and lubricates our tissues and organs and reduces damage from irritants (breathing in) or acidic pathogens. Its very natural for our body to produce mucus. The problem arises when we are producing too much (excessive amounts) in our stools.
It’s clear in a healthy body but can be white or yellow when issues are present.
Colds and Flu can cause excessive amounts of mucus but mainly around the sinus area. If you are seeing large amounts in your stools then medical advice is needed.
